Montclair, NJ (11/03/10) – Senior forward Deana Hagel (Fairfield, NJ / West Essex) was named as one of the 37 players chosen to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Senior All-Star Game.
Hagel will take part in the contest on Sunday, November 21 at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA (9:30 am) just prior to the NCAA Division III national championship game. Hagel becomes the ninth player in Montclair State history to be selected to play in the game as she joins Megan Ulicny and Jen Carbonaro, who played in the 2003,Robyn Apicelli and Alexandria Kelly, who each partcipated in 2005, Kristen Swartz in 2006, Jenna Gallo in 2008 and Megan Walsh last season.
Hagel has been one of the most prolific scorers not only in the New Jersey Athletic Conference but in Montclair State history the past four years. Appearing in 68 games, she was a First-Team All-NJAC selection and National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region in 2009. In her outstanding career, she has scored 37 goals and added 15 assists for 89 points.
Hagel currently ranks second in the NJAC in points scored this season with 33 and is also in the Top 5 in goals and assists. In Montclair State history she is ranked second all time in points scored, third in goals, 12th in assists and she is fourth in game-winning goals with nine.
