Montclair State University's Student Center displayed 1,100 backpacks on Nov. 5, each representing a U.S. college student who died by suicide last year. Photos, momentos and remembrances covered many of the backpacks, commemorating the young students' lives. The Send Silence Packing exhibit is part of the Active Minds National Conference on college student mental health and suicide prevention. Nearly 600 college officials, students and health professionals from 38 students spent the weekend on campus to talk about ways to improve mental health.
