Montclair, NJ (2/7/11) - Senior Galina Loutchouk (Richboro, PA / Council Rock) and junior Chris Lee (Morris Plains, NJ / Parsippany Hills), who helped the Montclair State swimming and diving teams to a sweep of William Paterson on February 5, were named MSU Athletes of the Week.
Loutchouk was named the NJAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week after helping MSU wrap up its dual meet season with a 158-111 NJAC road victory at rival William Paterson. Individually, she claimed first place showings in the 1,000 freestyle (11:47.18), the 200 butterfly (2:23.72) and the 200 breaststroke (2:36.86). Louthcouk also competed as a member of the Red Hawks’ first place 200 medley relay which produced a winning time of 1:55.93.
Lee earns his second Athlete of the Week honor this season as well as NJAC Swimmer of the Week accolade after helping the Red Hawks’ men’s squad wrap up their dual meet season with a 161.5-122.5 NJAC road victory at rival William Paterson. Individually, he produced first place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.09), the 200 breaststroke (2:18.83) and the 200 individual medley (2:05.32). Lee also competed as a member of Montclair State’s first place 200 medley relay which produced a winning time of 1:42.28.
Both award winners now begin preparation for the 2011 Metropolitan Swimming and Diving Championships which begin on Friday, February 18 at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
