Water Safety Instructor

Offered in May and June 2011

Requires a valid Fundamentals of Instructor Training certification issued within 1 year of course start date, or a current Authorized Instructor certification through the American Red Cross. These are in addition to a valid government issued ID, and must be presented at the first class date. Candidates without a current FIT certification must contact Alex Sperling at least 2 weeks before course start date at (973) 655 - 3349.

Class 1: May 14, 15, 21, 22: 9:00am to 6:00pm
Class 2: June 4, 5, 11, 12: 9:00am to 6:00pm
All Classes Meet 4 Times

Course Description:
Trains instructor candidates to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water
Safety courses, six levels of Learn-to-Swim, three levels of Preschool Aquatics and two levels of Parent and Child Aquatics.

Prerequisites: Instructor candidates must be 16 years old as of the course completion date. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke and butterfly.
