Montclair, NJ (5/22/11) – Senior javelin thrower Joseph Gingerelli (Wood-Rdige, NJ / Wood-Ridge)
is headed to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field
Championships as the list of entered competitors was released on
Sunday.
Gingerelli will take part in the national meet, which will be
held May 26-28 in Delaware, Ohio at Ohio Wesleyan’s Selby Field and
Gauthier Track. Gingerelli will not be in competition until Saturday
when the javelin takes place at 3:00 pm.
Gingerelli enters the NCAA Championship with the 10th-best distance in
the nation this season. He was the NJAC Champion in the event as he
took first-place honors with a throw of 61.52 meters. The distance was a
provisional qualifying mark but good enough to land him among the
field of 19 competitors this weekend.
Montclair State has not had an individual outdoor track and field
champion since the Red Hawks’ 1,600 meter relay team won the national
championship in 1993.
