Gearity Named Final NJAC Outdoor Track Rookie of the Week

Montclair, NJ (5/30/11) – Freshman Heather Gearity (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) collected one final honor for her outstanding outdoor track season as she was named the final NJAC Rookie of the Week for the season on Monday. It is fifth honor of the season from the NJAC as she finished with two Track Athlete of the Week awards in addition to her three Rookie of the Week selections.

The NJAC's Rookie of the Year, Gearity earned All-American honors by placing second in a field of 23 national competitors in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.57. The National Runner-up performance by Gearity helped the Red Hawks post a conference-best 30th place finish in the NCAA Division III National Championship held at Ohio Wesleyan Universitty.
