A freedom fighter must flee an unnamed dictatorship to evade persecution, leaving his wife and child behind. Noted composer Gian-Carlo Menotti created some of his most haunting and beautiful music for this tale of revolutionaries and refugees at the mercy of a faceless bureaucracy.
