New York Philharmonic trombonist, James Markey, will be the guest soloist at the concert of the MSU Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony on Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. in Kasser Theatre. Featured on the concert will be Camphouse's "A Movement for Rosa" composed in honor of Rosa Parks, and Barnes' "Third Symphony" written in memory of the composer's three-year old daughter. Other works will include deMeij's "Gandalf" from "The Lord of the Rings," Ives' "Country Band March," and Goldstein's "Colloquy" for trombone. The MSU Choral Ensembles perform their spring concert, Of Hearts and Souls, on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. in Kasser Theater. The concert features the 120-voice Chorale and 36-voice Chamber Singers, Heather J. Buchanan, conductor; Anna Gnatenko, accompanist.
