Diversity Week 2011

Description: The MSU community will once again join celebrating Diversity Week, an initiative of the Office of Education and Community Outreach and MSU Equity and Diversity Programs. In its seventh year, this multi-disciplinary program, is seeking to instill a University and community-wide appreciation and tolerance for diverse perspectives. Consisting of art exhibits, lectures, arts residencies, performances, and a conference - these events unite students, faculty, staff, alumni and surrounding community members in an inclusive setting.
Attorney Alumni Network Event

Location: University Hall, Courtyard Lounge
Description: The Office of Alumni Relations and the Department of Political Science and Law invite you to join us for the first Attorney Alumni Network gathering! Refreshments will be served: Hors d’oeuvres, beer, and wine. This event is funded through Montclair State University's Rapoport Legal Enhancement Fund. The evening’s program will feature remarks from two of your fellow graduates: Joyce M. Smith ’94, Chief Legal Officer of Prudential Trust Company and Steven M. Get Interviews with Powerful Promotional Materials: Resume, Cover Letter, and Pitch

Description: Is your resume communicating how you can help a prospective employer in the 15 seconds a hiring manager is going to look at it? Are you positioning yourself correctly for the job you want, or for the last job you had? In this talk, we will review resume, cover letter and pitch examples from actual job search "success stories" to get the facts straight about what works (and what doesn't). In the process, you'll learn how to write an effective resume, craft a compelling pitch to share in meetings and interviews, and write cover letters that get you the attention you want.

Recent Alumni Network: Chocolate Tasting

Registration Fee: $25 alumni pre-registration / $20 student pre-registration / $35 at the door
Registration includes Chocolate and Wine. *Must be 21 or older to attend.

Description: You will be taken on a chocolate journey by Susan Fine, owner of The Chocolate Path. Join fellow recent graduates for an evening full of fun! Learn about where chocolate comes from, how it's made, and a brief history of chocolate. Just like wine, chocolate takes on different flavors and properties depending on where it is grown. You will learn about aromas, textures, and flavors, all while tasting fabulous chocolates from all over the world. The tasting will include 7 courses of chocolate including sipping chocolate, 4 origin chocolates, cocoa beans, and truffles. Wine pairings include Prosecco and Malbec.
