Tobie Collects Fourth NJAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week Honor

Montclair, NJ (1/2/12) - Freshman forward Melissa Tobie (Elizabeth, NJ / Roselle Catholic) collected her fourth New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honor on Monday.

Tobie earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after averaging 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game in a pair MSU wins at the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, FL which extended the Red Hawks’ unbeaten streak to six games. She opened tournament play with 16 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks in a 74-72 win over Widener. One day later, she notched her fifth 20-point game of her freshman season with 22 markers, six rebounds, and a career-high seven assists in a 70-55 victory over Hamilton.

Tobie currently ranks fourth in the NJAC in scoring with an average of 17.0 points per game.
