Cabaret Schoenberg is a compelling interpretation of Arnold Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire set in a style that evokes its original cabaret setting. Schoenberg's experience writing songs for a Berlin cabaret became the determining factor in the genesis of Pierrot. Using two singers, director Hans Peter Cloos intertwines both the seminal work Pierrot Lunaire and Schoenberg's Cabaret Songs (Brettl-Lieder) in an otherworldly cabaret setting to create a distinct vision of the German expressionist world of 1912.
