On April 26, SPECTRUMS (Sexuality, Pride, Education, Community, Respect, Unity at Montclair State) will sponsor a Day of Silence to recognize the harmful and discriminatory remarks directed at those who are classified as GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender).
During the Day of Silence, which begins at 9 a.m., members of the MSU community go about their normal daily lives but remain silent for nine hours to signify the silent approach many people continually take in response to homophobic remarks.
Those who participate in the day of silence will have an opportunity to discuss their feelings at the Night of Noise following the event.
Registration is required and can be done up to and including the day of the event. Those who register will receive a free T-shirt and an informational card. T-Shirts are on a limited supply so they will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
To register or to request more details, e-mail Spectrums_MSU@yahoo.com. SPECTRUMS is a Class II organization of the SGA.
