Four-course graduate certificate program can be used to pursue new MBA concentration in real estate development

The Feliciano School of Business at Montclair State University has launched an online graduate certificate in Real Estate Development, and will welcome its first cohort of students in the fall 2023 semester.

The four-course certificate program can be completed in as little as six months, and the nine credits can be used to pursue Montclair’s new MBA concentration in Real Estate Development.

Designed for aspiring and practicing project managers, property managers, brokers, analysts, and entrepreneurs, the certificate program will prepare participants to coordinate and facilitate commercial real estate development projects. Courses will cover commercial real estate analysis and valuation; real estate law; real estate financing; and capital markets and real estate development.

Responding to the needs of the marketplace, Montclair’s new program will position graduates for career success in a rapidly growing industry.

“Real estate development is one of the toughest industries to break into due to the hands-on time commitment developers must make when training a new hire,” says program coordinator and Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance Joseph Nicholson. “In today’s competitive market, this certificate will give you a significant advantage as a job candidate by showing employers you are a valuable asset to the development firm from day one.”

The new certificate program joins Montclair’s suite of online graduate offerings. In addition to other nationally ranked programs, Montclair’s online Master of Science in Business Analytics program made its first appearance in the U.S. News & World Report 2023 Best Online Programs rankings at No. 38 in the nation, while the online MBA program ranked No. 85.

“Montclair State University strives to create educational programs that are a direct response to the evolving needs of industry, and this new certificate program is the latest example,” says Feliciano School of Business Dean Kimberly Hollister. “Our real estate program is expanding rapidly, and this new offering further showcases our academic excellence while allowing us to remain accessible to all.”
