Feliciano School of Business student Shouvik Maazumder placed 1st at the NYC Alteryx Datathon. The Datathon is an event where students compete to showcase their skills in working with complex data and solving real-world problems.

The shortlisted students were divided into groups of four and assigned the task of identifying trends and patterns related to issues of homelessness in NYC. Shouvik and his group identified relevant datasets, constructed workflows, and presented their findings to the judges. In the final round, the team competed live on stage in a lightning round, ultimately winning the first-place prize.

Maazumder’s analytical decision-making and strategic insights propelled him to the forefront, earning recognition among the top 75 entries. Reflecting on his achievement, Maazumder said, “The data visualization classes at Montclair were incredibly beneficial, assisting me in analyzing data and creating visuals in Tableau, along with the guidance from Feliciano professor Dr. Kibis.”
