The Disney Academic Exchange Program at Montclair State University allows international students to combine academic learning with hands-on professional training at Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida.

What’s Included
- Academic Experience at Montclair State University
Begin with a 10-day academic program at Montclair State University (just 12 miles from New York City!), where you’ll complete courses in leadership, cross-cultural management, and professional development. - Work & Learn at Disney World
Spend 6 months working in roles across Walt Disney World® Resort, from hospitality and operations to entertainment and guest services. Learn directly from Disney leaders while gaining practical skills in one of the world’s most recognized brands. - Cultural Exchange & Excursions
Explore iconic destinations like Times Square, Central Park, and Wall Street during trips to New York City. After completing the program, your J-1 visa also allows 30 additional days of travel in the U.S.
Academic Credits
As part of the program, you’ll earn 15 credits through a mix of coursework and internships, including:
- 3 credits: MGMT 318 – Leadership
- 3 credits: MGMT 356 – Cross-Cultural Behavior and Management
- 3 credits: INFO 210 – Database Systems (STEM)
- 6 credits: HSET 490 + HSET 493 – Hospitality, Sports, Events, and Tourism Internship
Estimated Costs & Earnings
- Program Costs (estimated):
- Tuition at Montclair State: $6,800
- J-1 Visa & SEVIS Fees: $690 approx. (varies per Embassy/Consulate)
- Housing at Disney: -$215 to $261 USD per week, depending on the type of unit (shared or private), deducted from weekly paycheck.
- Additional Costs: Airfare from the country of origin and meals in Orlando are not included.
- Earnings at Disney Internship: $10,000 – $12,000 USD (approx.)
Eligibility
To apply, you must:
- Be an undergraduate student enrolled at a partner university abroad.
- Demonstrate English proficiency:
- TOEFL (70+), IELTS (6.0+), Duolingo (95+), or equivalent test scores.
- Meet academic and visa requirements for J-1 exchange students.
