On October 27th, a “Fireside Chat” sponsored by the College for Education and Engaged Learning, College of Humanities and Social Science, AAPI New Jersey, and the ADP Center for Learning Technologies hosted author Tony DelaRosa (he/siya), an award-winning Filipino American anti-bias & anti-racist educator and researcher, spoken word poet, and racial equity strategist. Mr. DelaRosa presented excerpts from his book, Teaching the Invisible Race, in which he analyzes the landscape of Asian American K12 studies, challenges dominant notions of Asian American and Filipino American identities, and provides culturally responsive resources to authentically teach Asian American and Filipino American history in schools.
