Dr. Bettina Love, awardee of the William F. Russell Professorship at Teachers College, Columbia University, internationally acclaimed scholar, and author of We Want to do More Than Survive presented her recent book, New York Times bestseller, Punished for Dreaming at the Critical Urban Education Speaker series. Dr. Love spoke to over 500 guests about her critical analysis of four decades of educational reform. Punished for Dreaming lays bare the devastating effect on 25 Black Americans caught in the intersection of economic gain and racist ideology. Then with input from leading U.S. economists, Dr. Love offers a road map for repair, arguing for reparations with transformation for all children at its core.
