SensusAccess
As part of the University’s continuing efforts to improve the accessibility of MSU’s electronic content, SensusAccess is now available to all faculty, staff and students with a university email address. SensusAccess is a self-service solution that allows users to automatically convert inaccessible WORD, Adobe PDF, Powerpoint and image documents into more accessible versions. This service also allows faculty, staff and students to convert a range of alternate media including audiobooks (MP3 and DAISY), e-books (EPUB, EPUB3 and Mobi) and digital Braille. Users simply upload a file (i.e., WORD, Adobe PDF, Powerpoint) using the form below and enter their University email address to have the version that is more accessible to persons with disabilities emailed to them.
The service can also be used to convert inaccessible documents such as image-only PDF files, JPG pictures and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations into more accessible and less tricky formats. It takes about 5 minutes for the file to be converted into an accessible format and emailed. There is a 60MB size limit for each file.
SensusAccess will make every effort to convert your document into an accessible format. However, depending on the complexity of your document, additional manual intervention may be required.
Users should always validate the accessibility of the SensusAccess converted document using the appropriate document accessibility checker (i.e., Word, Excel, PDF, and PPT).
As a condition of using this service, all users must comply with applicable law, including copyright laws. By using SensusAccess, you assert that you have legal authorization to access and duplicate these materials, such as appropriate permission or qualification as fair use under the law.
