PhD Candidate Wins the 2025 Prestigious Kenneth S. Stoller Award

Odera Umeh, a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Earth and Environmental Studies, under the advisement of Dr. Duke Ophori, has been selected as the sole winner of the reputable Kenneth S. Stoller Award from the New Jersey Water Environment Association (NJWEA). This highly competitive award is for residents across the United States and conferred annually to just one distinguished and committed graduate student. The Kenneth S. Stoller Award recognizes Odera’s impressive academic qualifications, research impacts, experiences, and significant contributions to addressing the challenges posed by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination in New Jersey and beyond. His cutting-edge research is helping to develop innovative solutions for the detection, treatment, and remediation of these forever chemicals.
