Students create new RISE Innovation Lab to support sustainable concepts and ideas

This online graduate degree program can be completed in one year and is designed to fill a management need for governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and private-sector companies.

An interdisciplinary team led by Dr. Dirk Vanderklein (Biology) and funded by the National Science Foundation’s Education Dept. seek to help first generation students succeed in STEM majors. Others on the project include Nina Goodey (Chemistry), Joshua Galster (EAES) and Julie Dalley (Research Academy for University Learning)

Dr. Michael Kruge, EAES and Dr. Kevin Olsen, Chemistry, studied sediment samples collected by the EPA from the Hackensack River that indicate the riverbed is laced for 22 miles with a toxic cocktail made up of dozens of contaminants, from its mouth in Newark Bay up to the Oradell Reservoir. Wochit
