Montclair State University’s Class of 2017 came out in force on September 3 to meet each other, get to know the University better and just have fun at Red Hawk Day 2013. The first day of Red Hawk Frenzy, the month-long introduction to life at Montclair State, Red Hawk Day signals the start of the academic year and gives new students a chance to get together for some fun before classes begin.

Wearing colored t-shirts to show which college or school they belong to, the first-year and transfer students attended seminars, joined in activities and enjoyed food and fun together. “People here are very friendly and understanding” says freshman Arisleidy Ruiz of Perth Amboy. “I love Montclair State!”

Some of the activities on tap for Red Hawk Day included a Montclair State “game show” trivia contest, Student Services open houses, the College Olympics, and Project Challenge, which turned the Student Recreation Center into a playground with games, craft stations, vendors and food.

Helped by beautiful late-summer weather, Red Hawk Day was a great success and a terrific start to the academic careers of Montclair State’s Class of 2017.
