Top Performances Highlight Women's Indoor Track Appearance at NYC Gotham Cup


New York, NY (1/15/11) – The Montclair State women’s indoor track and field team set several personal bests as the Red Hawks returned from their month-long break to compete in the NYC Gotham Cup held at The Armory. 

The Red Hawks’ 4x400 meter relay team of sophomore Ashadaya Patterson (Trenton, NJ / Northern Burlington), freshman Michelle McNulty (Bayonne, NJ / Bayonne), freshman Krystal Ellis (Morristown, NJ / Morristown) and sophomore Heather Gearity (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) registered an ECAC Championship qualifying time of 4:07.58, which currently stands as the seventh-best time in the nation.

Ellis was the top finisher in the 60 meter hurdles as she posted a time of 9.66 seconds which converts to 8.98 seconds in the 55 meter hurdles which is contested at the NCAA championships. Ellis also set a career best in the long jump with a leap of 5.13 meters (16-feet, 10-inches).

Freshman Antonietta Altilio (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) ran a personal best 8.53 in the 60 meter dash and followed that up with a 9.83 meter mark in the triple jump while Angelina Ollo (Parsippany, NJ / Parsippany) set a personal record in the indoor 800 meters at 2:30.65.

Gearity and Hannah Campbell (Forked River, NJ / Lacey Township) both competed in the 400 meters running 1:01.02 and 1:01.24, respectively. Freshman Michelle Armando Padavano (Rahway, NJ / Mother Seton), competing in her first career track and field meet, posted a time of 3:31.02 in the 1000 meters.

MSU returns to action on Friday, January 21 as they head to Collegeville, PA to take part in the Collegeville Classic at Ursinus College.
