Christopher Fitzpatrick graduated from the School of Business at Montclair State University in 2004. He was a double major in Management and Marketing. While at Montclair, Chris was an actively involved member of the campus community. Throughout his college career, he was a member of numerous student organizations and clubs. Most notably, he served as Legislator for the Student Government Association (SGA) from 1991-2001 and Vice President from 2001-2002. He was then elected President of the SGA from 2002-2003. During his tenure with the SGA, Chris developed SGA Cabinet positions for Director of Multicultural Relations and Director of Commuter Affairs. Chris played an integral role as Founder and Charter President of A.S.S.I.S.T. He is a proud member of the 1999-2000 Wrestling team. In addition, he was a voting member of various other clubs, including the Conservation Club, NAACP, MSU Green Party, and Student Voter Coalition.
Chris continues his connections and involvement with the University as a highly engaged alumnus. Chris is a member of the newly formed Recent Alumni Network Committee, a group that leads the Recent Alumni Network (RAN) program representing recent graduates of the last ten graduating classes. The group serves a leadership role in developing, planning, promoting and delivering programs and resources to help the graduating class transition from students to alumni; address the special interests of the years following commencement; and provide opportunities for networking, community service social gatherings, cultural outings, and reunions. In May, Chris, along with many other RAN Committee members had the opportunity to meet, mingle, and network with over 100 members of the Class of 2011 at Senior Send Off. Chris addressed the group with a speech, welcoming them the graduating class into the Recent Alumni Network, as they transitioned from students to alumni. In addition to his role on the RAN Committee, Chris is actively involved with the School of Business.
Chris has had a successful career with Enterprise Rent-A-Car for over six years and is a Regional Talent Acquisition Manager for the Eastern NJ – New York Group. Chris notes the importance of involvement in student organizations and offers advice to current students, “My current career is to recruit and hire top college talent for Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s Management Trainee Program, and the students who are able to effectively balance schoolwork with extra-curricular activities are always a cut above the rest. If you’re not taking advantage of the SGA and the clubs and organizations they offer, or if you’re not playing a sport or in a fraternity or sorority, or if you’re not involved in some way shape or form, you’re missing out on valuable experiences, friendships, and examples for resumes and interviews in the future. Don’t cheat yourself out of these experiences!” Chris has helped current students prepare for the job search and interview process by conducting mock interview sessions on campus.
Chris attributes much of his success to those who helped guide him during his time at Montclair State University. His mentors include: Dr. Rob Gilbert, Dean James Harris, Dr. Karen Pennington, Dr. Alan Oppenheim, Dean Helen Matusow-Ayres, President Susan Cole, Marjorie Coleman-Carter, Police Chief Paul Cell, and Officer Frank Marino.
Chris’ wife, Rebecca Mackay Fitzpatrick, also graduated from Montclair State University. She received her BA in 2006 from the College of Education and Human Services. She was an Elementary Education major and is currently a first grade teacher in Clifton, N.J.
