Men's Indoor Track Closes Out 2011 at Princeton New Year's Invite


Princeton, NJ (12/10/11) – The Montclair State men’s indoor track and field team closed out the 2011 portion of its schedule as the Red Hawks competed in the Princeton New Year’s Invite at Jadwin Gymnasium on Saturday.

Freshman Koran McDaniel (Neptune, NJ / Neptune) finished 14th in the 60 meters as he posted a time of 7.19 seconds against the field of Division I and III competitors. Classmates Daniel Woods (Plainfield, NJ / Plainfield) and Hassan Stuckey (Rahway, NJ / Colonia) also took part in the event with times of 7.27 and 7.40, respectively.

McDaniel would also compete in the 300 meters registering a time of 37.55 as he finished just ahead of teammate Jonathan Feigin (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township), who timed in at 37.66. McDaniel and Stuckey also raced in the 4x400 relay as that quartet posted a time of 3:31.39 to place 13th.

Freshman Rodney Copeland (Toms River, NJ / Manchester) finished 11th in the 1000 meters clocking in at 2:41.27 while Alex Fortoul (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ / Hasbrouck Heights) finished eighth in the 3000 meters (10:09.04). Nicholas Kral (Randolph, NJ / Randolph) was 18th in the 600 meters with a time of 1:27.06.

Sophomore Nick DiGiacomo (Morris Plains, NJ / Parsippany Hills) finished 12th in the shot put with a best throw of 12.81 meters.  

Montclair is now off until Friday, January 13 when it returns to action at the Gotham Cup held at The Armory in New York.
