Hello from Your New President

Dear Montclair State University Community:

As I wrap up my first day as the university’s president I wanted to take a moment to tell you how excited I am to join this community of faculty, staff and students. It is a privilege to lead an institution with an uncompromising commitment to inclusiveness, excellence and social advancement.

Over the days, weeks and months ahead, I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible and to learning all that I can about all the various parts of the university. Today I began meeting faculty, staff and students, and there will be many opportunities for the entire campus community to get to know me and for me to get to know you!

I’m already impressed by the university’s strong embrace of diversity, student success, social justice, problem-solving research and community service as core aspirations. We stand at a pivotal moment in higher education, and this university – with its record of advancing community well-being and supporting student success – has an amazing opportunity to define the archetype of a university designed to serve the public interest.

Together we will do great things, and I can’t wait to get started!
