President Koppell Appears on The Key Podcast with Inside Higher Ed

I recently spoke with Times Higher Education Campus editor Sara Custer about the skepticism of higher education; according to a recent Gallup study, only 36% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in higher education, down 20 percentage points from 2015. As leaders in higher ed, it’s on us to rebuild that trust.

We’re steadfast in our commitment to doing that at Montclair. I shared with Sara several of our focus areas:

• Improving accessibility to a quality education while rejecting the notion that accessibility and excellence can’t go hand in hand;
• Our commitment to addressing the needs of the community while providing hands-on learning experiences for students;
• Our decision to merge with Bloomfield College to support a vital institution with financial difficulties;
• Our mission to not just welcome diverse student bodies to our campus, but to help all of them succeed, finish their degrees, and realize the lifelong benefits of their education.
