Police Incident Reports
A Police Blotter is a way for the University Police Department to release information and share news about investigations, criminal incidents and arrests, to the community and to the people we serve. This information may be updated as needed or on a real-time basis, depending on the nature of the information being shared.

Spring 2023
Tuesday, May 9 – Tuesday May 16, 2023
- Monday May 8, 2023, a United State Secret Service investigation lead to the arrest of student Sean Lynch, 22 of Summit, NJ, for child pornography. Lynch is scheduled to appear in United State District Court.
- Monday May 8, 2023, non-student Anthony Hines Jr., 38 of Passaic, NJ was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and eluding officers, for an incident that occurred on a NJ transit bus. Hines Jr. is scheduled to appear in Essex County Superior Court.
- Tuesday, May 9, 2023, a student reported being the subject of an online scam via her University email account.
- Tuesday, May 9, 2023, a student reported that his cell phone was stolen from the area of Stone Hall.
- Thursday, May 11, 2023, a student reported that $100.00 was stolen from a drawer inside of their on-campus residence.
- Friday, May 12, 2023, a student came into Police Headquarters to report an incident of harassment against another known student.
- Friday, May 12, 2023, Officers responded to Cole Hall in regards to a suspicious email that was received by a University employee. The email contained potentially threatening language regarding self-harm and harm to others. This email was later determined to be a hoax.
Tuesday, May 2 – Tuesday May 9, 2023
- Monday, May 1, 2023, a student reported an incident of theft.
- Monday, May 1, 2023, PNG individual, Christina Saint- Jean was charged with Defiant Trespassing. Saint-Jean was charged on a Special Complaint Summons and released pending a follow-up court date in CJP Court.
- Monday, May 1, 2023, a student reported an incident of criminal mischief.
- Monday, May 1, 2023, Officers responded to the Recreation Center in regards to a report of theft.
Tuesday, May 2, 2023, an Montclair State University employee reported an incident of harassment. The individual reported receiving harassing communications via e-mail from a known male individual. - Wednesday, May 3, 2023, student Keyon Luff was arrested while in his residence room, following an on-going investigation by the Department of Criminal Justice. Luff was processed at Police Headquarters and transported to the Essex County Jail.
- Saturday, May 6, 2023, PNG student Xavier Usry-Knowles (20 of Newark, NJ) was issued a special complaint summons for being inside of Barton Hall. Usry-Knowles is scheduled to appear in Little Falls Municipal Court.
- Monday, May 8, 2023, an investigation led by the United States Secret Service resulted in the arrest of student Sean Lynch, 21 of Summit, NJ. Lynch is scheduled to appear in United State District Court.
- Monday, May 8, 2023, non-student Anthony Hines Jr., 38 of Passaic, NJ was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and eluding officers, for an incident that initiated on a NJ transit bus. Hines Jr. is scheduled to appear in Essex County Superior Court.
