The English Club

This diverse group has many different outlets. An alumni newsletter, an events committee, and also the “Playne English Podcast“. The goal is to not only grow the community within the English department at Montclair but also to give students a safe and fun environment to make friends and get real-world experience as to how being an English major at Montclair teaches valuable life skills that translate to the job market.

Sigma Tau Delta

An International English Honor Society

Sigma Tau Delta (ΣΤΔ) is an English honor society for students at accredited colleges and universities that grant baccalaureate or higher degrees. Established in 1924 to confer distinction for high achievement in English language, literature and writing, it is dedicated to fostering literacy and all aspects of the discipline of English. The Montclair State chapter of ΣΤΔ is called Alpha Chi Mu (ΑΧμ). To qualify, students must meet particular academic criteria, including a 3.7 grade point average and junior or senior status. Eligible students are invited twice a year to apply.

Sigma Tau Delta boasts over 880 local chapters in the United States and abroad. These chapters meet regularly to plan academic, extracurricular and social service activities. While faculty sponsors provide guidance, these activities are student-generated and student-run.

For more information, please contact faculty sponsors Naomi Liebler or Jonathan Greenberg.
