The Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies program at MSU is proud to release our very first zine, Color Theory!

Thank you to the creators, contributors, collaborators, and supporters of this incredible work.

A message from the editors:

Color theory, by definition, is, “both the science and art of using color. It explains how humans perceive color; and the visual effects of how colors mix, match or contrast with each other. Color theory also involves the messages colors communicate; and the methods used to replicate color” (Kris Decker).

Color Theory: A GSWS Zine captures the infinite spectrum of color we wish to celebrate. Whether it is the colors of people, LGBTQ+ pride, art, or emotion, this zine aims to serve as a compilation of nuanced, vibrant voices mixing together, complementing one another, and in active conversation with each other, and you, the reader.

Montclair State University’s first ever Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Zine will give you a glimpse into the hearts and minds of the creators, contributors, and facilitators of this collaborative work.Though we live in a world that may try to subdue the radiance of those who dare to live their lives authentically, we have no doubt that these messages will shine and speak for themselves.

Above all, we hope you will see yourself in this colorful labor of love.

Warmly,
Niko Farley & Jonah Schwartz
