Virtual Learning for Students with Disabilities (Certificate) Online

Recent forecasts in K-12 education show that teachers’ professional development will shift from how to use technology to how to teach with technology. The Virtual Learning for Students with Disabilities online graduate certificate is a two-course, fully online program designed to help P-12 educators become experts at teaching with technology. Meeting students’ needs through technology is and will remain an important learning opportunity for the future of education. Course content will introduce emerging technologies to affect engagement and outcomes for at-risk learners, especially those with disabilities. Upon completion of the online certificate program, all types of education professionals will gain immediately applicable skills in instructional technologies, including the development of accessible, high-quality instruction and assessment.

Admission Requirements

The Office of Graduate Admissions requires the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree in order to be eligible to apply for a graduate program. Applicants with non-U.S. degrees, please visit the International Applicants page to review the U.S. degree equivalency information.

Application Checklist

In order to make applying for graduate school as seamless as possible for you, we have
created an application checklist. This checklist can be a reference point for you during the
application process to ensure that you have a comprehensive understanding of the steps
needed to apply, as well as all corresponding supplemental materials for your specific
program of interest.

  • Application Deadline: Rolling Admission
  • Submit Online Application: Please create your online account and submit your application by following the general application instructions and pay (or waive) the non-refundable $60 application fee. Once this step has been completed, the online portal will allow you to upload your supplemental materials.

The following is a list of the supplemental materials that will accompany your application for the Virtual Learning for Students with Disabilities (Certificate) Online program:

  • Transcript: One from each college attended.
  • Standardized Test Scores: Not required.
  • Resume: A current resume is required.
  • Minimum undergraduate GPA: 3.0
  • Applicants with non-U.S. degrees, please visit the International Applicants page to review the US degree equivalency information.

This six-credit certificate program includes:

  • Course 1: SPED 680 – Online Instruction for Students with Disabilities
  • Course 2: SPED 680 – Virtual Assessment and Evaluation for Students with Disabilities
