Online RN to BSN FAQ

When is this program offered?
The RN to BSN program has fall and spring start dates.

We are currently accepting applications for the Fall 2024 semester.

What is the program tuition?

What degree is awarded after graduating from the program?
Students are conferred a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) after graduating from the program.

What courses will I take in the program?
For detailed information on coursework, please refer to the RN to BSN Curriculum page.

What is the modality of this program?
The RN to BSN program features a newly revised, fully online, curriculum for didactic coursework. Students will be required to complete some clinical hours in an on-site community health setting.

Can I enroll in this program as a part-time student?
Yes. Students are encouraged to complete the program through part-time study.

Can you explain the transfer credit process?
RNs who received their associate degree or diploma from an accredited institution may transfer general education, prerequisite science, and pre-licensure nursing courses. You are awarded an additional 30 competency credits for passing the NCLEX-RN examination. Upon acceptance to Montclair State, you are also eligible to transfer a 3-credit-hour statistics course that was completed at another institution within the past 5 years.

The final 27-30 credits counted towards your degree must be completed at Montclair State.

Is this program accredited?
Yes. The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Montclair State University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.
