Over $25K in Scholarships Now Available

There’s one more week for Spanish and Latino Studies majors/minors and Latino and Latin American Studies minors to earn up to $25,000 toward their educational expenses.

“We’re pleased to offer a diverse range of scholarships for undergraduates and graduates, both for Spanish and Latino and Latin American Studies. The rewards may be used for Summer and Fall 2019 and Spring 2020,” noted Dr. Raul Galoppe, Chair, Spanish and Latino Studies.

Samantha Rodriguez, a junior minoring in Spanish, is a past recipient of the Teresa de Escoriaza scholarship. “. . . I was very happy that I got it. It definitely helped me cover for some of my expenses for the following semester. As a college student, you cannot miss out on an opportunity like that. Every penny is helpful toward your education. That money covered for my transportation that semester,” she noted.

Undergraduate scholarships include:

  • Conrad J. Schmitt Scholarship (two for $5,000)
  • Anthony & Charlotte Haartz Marinelli/Vincenzo Bollettino Scholarship (four for $1,000, each one to assist a full-time sophomore, junior and/or prospective senior students who are Latino and Latin American Studies minors)
  • John and Emma Hwang Scholarship ($1,000 for a Spanish major enrolled in the Study Abroad program)
  • Jo Anne Engelbert Scholarship (up to $1,000 for a full-time or part-time student majoring in Translation)
  • Eleanor Salmon Keyser Fund Scholarship (up to $1,000 to assist full-time or part-time students majoring in Translation)
  • Teresa de Escoriaza Scholarship ($250 to assist one sophomore with a minimum of 12 credits in Spanish)

Graduate scholarships include:

  • Linda Gould Levine Scholarship (two recipients at $500 each and one at $1,000)
  • Barbara Carbon Scholarship ($1,000 for a full-time or part-time student, graduate or undergraduate)
