The Executive Branch is composed of four e-board members consisting of the President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary, all of which serve as the four trustees of the corporation. The Executive Branch also includes the President’s Cabinet, Student Life At Montclair (S.L.A.M.) Programming Board, Players Programming Board, the Yearbook Team and the SGA Publicity Team. The Executive Board enforces the statutes while representing the student population to the administration. Any questions, comments, or concerns can be brought to the attention of the Executive Board. The Executive Board offices are available in the Student Center Annex, Room 103.

Leila Jones

Leila Jones is a Senior at Montclair State University majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Economics. With a passion for both innovation and service, Leila blends her technical expertise with a deep commitment to advocacy and student empowerment. Leila currently serves as the Executive President of the Student Government Association Incorporated, where she leads with intentionality, compassion, and a vision of inclusivity. Prior to her presidency, Leila was deeply engaged in leadership and service across campus. She served as Treasurer and later President of LadiesFIRST, a student organization dedicated to cultivating a safe, empowering space for minority women on campus. In this role, she spearheaded initiatives to amplify marginalized voices and ensure equitable opportunities for all. Beyond her SGA role, Leila actively contributes to the community by student-teaching young children and volunteering at local animal shelters, demonstrating her commitment to service. Leila’s administration is centered on uplifting underrepresented student voices including nontraditional students, commuters, and transfer students, and making sure every student at Montclair feels included. Her leadership is driven by the belief that every student deserves not just a seat at the table, but a voice that’s heard and valued. As President, Leila is committed to reimagining the student experience, creating accessible resources, transparent communication, and intentional programming that reflects the diversity and vibrancy of the student body. Carmela Beitler

Carmela Beitler is a Senior at Montclair State University. She is a Psychology major with a Social Work minor. After graduation, Carmela is looking to pursue her Masters in Social Work and one day specialize in School Social Work. Outside of the Student Government Association, Carmela works for the Center for Student Involvement as an Event Manager and the Office of Special Events as a Student Worker. Carmela has been a part of the SGA since she was a Freshman. She joined her first semester as a Legislator, and then proceeded to be a part of the Legislative Branch until her Junior year. Last year, she was a part of the Presidential Cabinet as the Director of Academic Affairs, where she conducted Town Halls and other campus events in an effort to encourage healthy communication between Montclair students and faculty. She also created a Voice Your Concern form for students to anonymously address a problem directly with the Dean of their specific college. As Vice President, Carmela plans to focus on strengthening the relationship between the SGA and Registered Student Organizations by prioritizing communication and transparency, as well as guiding this year’s Legislators as they advocate for the entire student body. Overall, Carmela is looking forward to being a steady resource for every student to rely on. She is honored to represent the student body as the Vice President for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Danny Gonzalez

Danny Gonzalez is a senior at Montclair State University majoring in Theatre Studies with a minor in Film & Television. Danny is also part of the 4+1 program offered here at Montclair State, and is expected to complete his Masters of Arts in Theatre Studies in 2027! Upon completion, he hopes to pursue endeavors in Casting Directing and Public Relations agencies! Danny has almost always been involved around campus. Before becoming the SGA Executive Treasurer, Danny was the Treasurer for the Dominican Student Organization, which he was the founding SGA Legislator for! Founded in May of 2023, Danny was brought on by the founders of the organization to represent Dominican students around campus and to be the voice of his RSO to the SGA! There, he got involved more with the SGA and became a part of their Media Team for two consecutive years! Danny was also involved in The Theatre Collective, the BA Theatre Studies program’s leading student-ran theatre company as their General Manager for the 2024-2025 season! Danny looks forward to supporting their upcoming season and is excited to continue his studies within the program! Outside of MSU, Danny is a Lighting and Sound technician/designer, Stage Manager, aspiring Casting Director, and works at a music school! Skilled with many tools on his belt, he hopes to bring transparency and reliability to the role of the SGA Executive Treasurer. He also hopes that being a Latino, Black, and Gay representation in the office will also encourage students like himself to step up into more leadership roles more often! He’s also thrilled to be working alongside his fellow board members who he has known for a majority of his time where he has been involved!

Edlyn Eugene

Edlyn Eugene is a senior majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing at Montclair State University. Being a dedicated student leader, she has a strong passion for service, commitment to transparency, and drive for effective communication. And all these attributes have defined her journey through student leadership. Edlyn began her involvement in the Student Government Association as a legislator during her sophomore year, where she quickly demonstrated a strong work ethic and a sincere dedication to student advocacy. Recognized for her leadership and communication skills, she was appointed Director of Public Relations on the Presidential Cabinet in her junior year. While serving on cabinet, Edlyn also held key positions in the women empowerment organization LadiesFIRST, where she served as both Publicist and Vice President. Through this work, she helped amplify the voices of minority women on campus, organized empowering events, and fostered community among students. Her involvement in both SGA and LadiesFIRST reflects her extensive experience in leadership, empowerment, and service to others. As Executive Secretary of the Student Government Association, Edlyn is committed to ensuring that the student body stays informed and engaged. She will prioritize accurate and timely communication across all SGA initiatives, maintaining clear records of meetings, resolutions, and student concerns. Edlyn’s vision includes fostering open channels between students and their elected representatives, promoting transparency, and ensuring that all voices—especially those from underrepresented groups—are heard. With her background in marketing and her heart for advocacy, Edlyn brings a dynamic blend of creativity, professionalism, and passion to her role, working to build a more connected and inclusive student community at Montclair State University.

As the chief legal officer of the SGA, the Attorney General provides legal counsel and guidance on matters pertaining to the organization’s operations and decisions. They ensure compliance with the SGA constitution, statutes, and bylaws, and offer opinions to the SGA leadership.The Attorney General, appointed by the SGA President with a 2/3 majority vote of the Legislature, serves to study and clarify SGA statutes, issue rulings on their constitutionality, and is an ex-officio member of specific committees.
David Jocelyn

The Chief of Staff serves as a key administrative and strategic advisor to the SGA President, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the executive office. They manage communication between the President and other SGA branches, coordinate initiatives, and supervise staff members. The Chief of Staff plays a pivotal role in facilitating the President’s agenda, managing schedules, and ensuring efficient workflow within the organization.The Chief of Staff in the Presidential Cabinet is responsible for compiling monthly or semester reports from Cabinet members, presenting the SGA President’s Officers Report at legislative meetings, and working a minimum of 5 office hours per week. They coordinate community service programs, meet regularly with Cabinet members and the SGA President, chair Chief of Staff meetings, and assume responsibilities of vacant Cabinet positions, among other assigned duties.
