What are the admissions requirements?

The Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies program is designed for working adults age 25 and over with a minimum of 60 prior college credits. Admissions requirements include a minimum grade point average of 2.0 AND a minimum of two years from the last date of college attendance.
When can I start?

Beginning Fall 2021, the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies program will be accepting students each Fall and Spring.

How long will it take to complete my degree?

The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies is a degree completion program designed to help students with 60+ transfer credits successfully earn their baccalaureate degree in an accelerated timeline. Classes are fully online and are scheduled in 8 week terms, providing maximum flexibility for busy adults. Most students attending full time can complete in as little as 18 months.

What kind of classes will I be taking?

Students in the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies program choose between two concentrations; Humanities and Education Studies which will determine specific course offerings. See a sample curriculum here. Both concentrations allow for significant flexibility in elective options.

Will my credits from another school be transferable?

If you are transferring from a regionally accredited four-year institution, we do not currently limit the number of credits you may transfer. Keep in mind, though, that you will need to complete a minimum of 32 credits at Montclair State in order to receive a Montclair State degree. If you are transferring from a regionally accredited two-year institution (community college) or two-year program, you may transfer up to 60 credits towards your bachelor’s degree.
I’m a former MSU student. Can I come back?

Yes! As long as you have been out of school for two years or more and have at least 60 earned credits you would be eligible to complete your degree under the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies program.

What is the cost of this degree?

The tuition for the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies is the same as other undergraduate degree programs at Montclair State University, which can be found here. Note that due to the online format of the degree program, students are not charged fees.
