Meet the Staff

Patricia M. Ruiz, DNP, APN
Director, University Health Center

Responsible for planning and directing all areas of the University Health Center including clinical care, regulatory compliance, fiscal responsibilities, and overseeing the public health of the students and campus. Working collaboratively with university partners to promote health and wellness, she represents the interests of the University Health Center as well as the university.  Through these interdisciplinary initiatives, student health, safety, and overall well-being are nurtured and protected, fostering academic success and wellness.

Dr. Ruiz is a certified Advanced Practice Nurse with expertise in college health and has worked in the field as a clinician for more than fifteen years.  Her doctoral work examined the presence of depression symptoms in college students who sought healthcare at a university health center for routine (not illness) care.

Susan L Graziano, MSN, APN
Assistant Director of the University Health Center

Susan is a certified Advanced Practice Nurse with 42 years of experience in the medical field. She works in primary care and women’s health, seeing students with various acute and chronic medical needs.  Susan is an LGBTQ ally and ensures an inclusive safe space for students at the University Health Center. She is a member and former President of the NJ College Health Association and she was awarded the College Health Excellence Award in 2017. Susan was awarded the StandOUT Award by the Montclair State LGBTQ Center in 2016 and received a Certification in LGBT Health from Drexel University in 2019.

Barbara Ackerson, RN-BC, FN-CSA

Registered Nurse with dual certification in College Health and as a Forensic Nurse; she is certified to conduct Sexual Assault Examinations.  Barbara has been employed at Montclair State University since 2002 and has been an active member of the Sexual Assault Response Team since 2003.

Barbara is proud to have been chosen as a recipient of the Ruth Reagan Hutchison Award for Excellence in College Health.  She is active in the NJ College Health Association where she currently serves as the Vice President.

Clara Albert, MSN, APN

Clara Albert is a certified Advanced Practice Nurse with a focus on Adult Health.  Prior to working at Montclair State, she worked at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark Department of Health, and the Newark Community Health Center.

Victoria Eftychiou, MSN, APN

Victoria is a certified Advanced Practice Nurse with 35 years experience working in the medical field and over 22 years in clinical practice providing health care to college students. Victoria has diverse clinical experience in adult primary care and women’s health care.  Areas of interest include health promotion and disease prevention, nutrition and weight management, and women’s health care.

Carol Miller, RN, BS

Carol is a proud member of the Montclair State University Health Center staff since 2007 with special interests in sleep management and healthy nutrition.  Awards include the Montclair State University Student Development and Campus Life Red Ribbon Teamwork Award 2015-2016, Vice President Award 2015-2016, and the New Jersey College Health Association Mary-Kate Heffern Honorary Scholarship Award 2015.

Justine Della Fave, MSN, APN

Justine is an Advanced Practice Nurse with a specialty in Women’s Health. Prior to joining the University Health Center she worked as a Certified Nurse Midwife where she provided full-scope of midwifery services.  She is experienced in women’s health and gynecological care across the lifespan.  She is passionate about education and having patients play an active role in their health maintenance.

Nichole Jenisch, MSN, APN

Alexis Sell, MSN, APN

Alexis an Adult-Gerontology Advanced Practice Nurse with experience and training in ambulatory surgery, long term care, college health, private practice, school nursing, and wound care. She is a member of the International Honors Society for Nurses and the New Jersey College Health Association.

Sharon O’Donnell
Immunization Coordinator/Medical Receptionist

Sharon is responsible for verifying that all students are compliant with NJ State immunization requirements. Additionally, she facilitates the students’ understanding of the document submission process into the Health Center’s web portal so that students can be compliant and not experience course registration interruptions. Sharon also assists with scheduling student appointments and is responsible for all aspects of purchasing for the University Health Center. Prior to joining the Montclair State UHC family, Sharon held positions in office administration for various advertising and media companies.

Arlin Ramirez-Anderson
Credentialing Coordinator/Medical Receptionist

Arlin is responsible for coordinating and submitting the insurance bills associated with the student health insurance plan. In addition to this, she coordinates the credentialing of all of the professional staff at the University Health Center. Arlin’s other responsibilities include assisting students who come to the University Health Center, scheduling appointments, and general day-to-day administrative operations.
