Undergraduate Programs

The Department of Psychology is home to over 1,000 majors. It is one of the most popular majors at Montclair State (and we love that)! We also offer two minors: one in psychology and an inter-disciplinary minor in Cognitve Science. Please visit any or all of them to see what suits you!

Major: Psychology (38 credits)

The psychology major is one that can be utilized in any career field. It is an excellent major for students who wish to pursue K-5 teacher certification in New Jersey. If you are planning to pursue teacher certification in K-5, please visit the Teacher Education Program site and compare your major program of study to the professional sequence for certification. If you have any questions, please visit your advisor or an advisor in the Center of Pedagogy.

Minor: Psychology (18 credits)

Our minor in Psychology complements any major on campus. Why not use those free electives to pick up our minor? All you need to do is complete the form to add a major/minor and have our department chairperson sign it. Visit us in Dickson Hall #219.

Minor: Cognitive Science (20 credits)

The minor in Cognitve Science is a great interdsciplinary minor and requires the completion of 20 credits. Please contact Dr. David Townsend for more information.
