Living Voices: Musical Dialogues with Women of the Italian Resistance

The Coccia Institute for the Italian Experience in America, in collaboration with dott.ssa Laura Montanari, Post-doc Fellow in Music Educator at the John J. Cali School of Music, presented the debut performance of “Living Voices: Musical Dialogues with Women of the Italian Resistance” on Monday, April 28th at the School of Communication & Media.

Coccia Institute staff poses with dott.ssa Laura Montanari at her debut doctoral dissertation performance.

Dott.ssa Montanari’s debut doctoral dissertation highlighted the stories of Italian women who experienced the Italian resistance movement during WWII. Their stories were delicately set to music, to commemorate such an unforgettable moment in history that reflects elements of our current changing world.

Prof. Raif Hyseni performs with the accordion during “Living Voices: Musical Dialogues with Women of the Italian Resistance.

The performance featured guest artists, including both current and former students from the Cali School of Music, as well as Prof. Raif Hyseni. Congratulazioni to dott.ssa Montanari on her doctoral dissertation debut, and congratulations to all performers on a spectacular concert!
