Have you been struggling with negative body image or unhealthy eating habits? This group is for Montclair State students who would like to get support from one another and skills in overcoming struggles with body image and food. The group will be facilitated by two CAPS therapists and certified yoga instructors (Lisa Westreich, LCSW, RYT & Jude Uy, PhD, RYT) and will combine yoga, meditation and other skills training with the goal of developing a more compassionate relationship with body, self and food.
The first half of the group will focus on discussion and experiential exercises to facilitate awareness, knowledge and skills development. The second half will focus on practicing yoga and mindfulness. All body types and experiences with yoga and mindfulness are welcome! M.B.B. meets in person on Thursdays from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and if you are not free at this time, then please consider reserving this time for next semester. Please email and request to be placed on the waitlist for the Spring 2022 semester.

Some suggestions for an optimal yoga/mindfulness practice:
Wear comfortable clothing
Try not to have a big meal directly before the group
If you have props (yoga mat, blocks, strap) feel free to bring them, but if not we have mats, blocks, and straps that you can use
You are welcome to leave or stay as long as you’d like, however you’ll get the most out of the program if you stay for the whole time and you attend all sessions!
