Sarah Lowe, assistant professor in the Department of Psychology, was interviewed for two recent media articles on psychological growth after natural disasters and the lasting effects of rumors during an emergent situation.  The articles are, “Resilience, suffering and silver linings after a disaster” by Susan Scutti of CNN and “Why Misinformation Travels In The Wake Of Tragedies Like Las Vegas“, by Erin Schumaker of the Huffington Post.

Lowe is a clinical psychologist who teaches in the graduate child clinical psychology program. Lowe’s area of research is on the long-term psychological consequences of traumatic events, including natural and human-made disasters, community and interpersonal violence, and childhood abuse and neglect.
