Montclair State University is currently partnering with ACUE to bring faculty and staff high-quality and research-backed professional learning courses. Having partnered with over 600 institutions, ACUE is a nationally recognized leader in student success through high-quality instruction.
ACUE Opportunities for Faculty and Staff at Montclair
A selected group of faculty will be able to earn ACUE’s Certificate in Effective Teaching, and all faculty an staff will have access ACUE Commons, which will include quick study courses on crucial topics in higher education, including the Deliberative Dialogue series and a sequence on AI for Higher Ed. The University encourages faculty to take advantage of these opportunities as part of our shared commitment to high-quality teaching and professional growth.
ACUE’s Certification in Effective Teaching is a nationally recognized credential, endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE), that signals faculty mastery of evidence-based, inclusive teaching practices shown to improve student learning and engagement. Montclair State University is offering the Effective Teaching Practices (ETP) path to certification. The Certification is supported by the Center for Teaching and Academic Innovation (CTAI). Effective Teaching Practices is a facilitated course supported by an active community of practice.
How to Apply
Please note that space is limited to 45 participants this year, and selections will be made based on distribution across departments and faculty roles to ensure broad participation.

January 26, 2026 – December 13, 2026
Professional Credentials
Faculty will earn a digital badge for each completed module in the ETP course, and upon completing the full certification course, they will receive a PDF certificate that can be printed.
All Montclair faculty and staff will also have access to self-paced quick study courses and series of courses offered via ACUE Commons.

Deliberative Dialogue: a series of quick study courses designed to help faculty support students’ civic engagement and social learning.
AI for Higher Education: a series on current and emerging topics, including Introduction to Generative AI, Empowering Students to use AI Responsibly, Teaching with AI-Inclusive and AI resistant Learning Experiences, Transforming Assignments in the Age of AI, and others.
