Global Ambassador Program

Thank you for your interest in serving as a Global Ambassador during the Fall 2019-Spring 2020 academic year.  Below you can find more information regarding the goals of the Global Ambassador program, expectations, eligibility requirements, and benefits of participation.

Program Goals
  • Demonstrate an interest in cultural exchange through language, food, music, customs, art, etc.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and positive environment with an openness to global perspectives
  • Provide peer support to international students by assisting with their transition to a new environment and helping to reduce culture shock
  • Actively engage in Office of Global Engagement programs across four pillars: educational, social, cultural, and community engagement
  • Attend a mandatory training session for all Global Ambassadors (August 23, 2019)
  • Volunteer at Fall International Orientation (August 26-30, 2019) and Spring International Orientation during assigned time slots (January 13-17, 2020)
  • Attend at least two Global Engagement events each semester, including trips, Global Living Community programs, and/or international student events, all of which will be communicated via email
  • Meet with assigned mentee(s) once during each semester. This can include going to an on-campus event, eating lunch together in the dining hall, going on a shopping trip, etc.
  • Assist at the Leaders of the World Conference at Montclair State University (Date TBD—sometime in October 2019)
  • Assist at the World’s Fair event at Montclair State University (Date TBD—sometime in April 2020)
  • Give tours to prospective and new international students as needed
Eligibility Requirements
  • At least 30 credits completed as of January 2019
  • Enrolled full-time (at least 12 credits for undergraduate students and 9 credits for graduate students)
  • At least one semester completed at Montclair State University
  • Expected graduation date of either January 2020, May 2020, or later
  • Online application and interview with Office of Global Engagement
  • Maintain a positive conduct standing at the University
  • Have at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA from Montclair State University
  • Serve as a role model to students; act ethically and morally

  • Opportunity to develop global perspectives and cultural literacy while serving as a leader to international students and participating in cultural exchange

  • I certify that I meet all of the eligibility requirements outlined in this contract
  • I understand that failure to attend training or my shifts during International Orientation may result in removal from this program
