Former Astronaut Terry Hart part of Oct. 16 event co-sponsored by Library

On Oct. 16, Terry Hart, former Space Shuttle Astronaut and Professor of Engineering at Lehigh University, will give an off-site Zoom presentation on “The Past, Present, and Future of Space Exploration” at 3:30pm in Montclair’s Science Hall, Room 102.  The event is part of the “Journey to the Moon” program series and is co-sponsored by Sprague Library, University College, the Physics & Astronomy Department, and a number of other departments on-campus.

Professor Hart will relate the historical progress, current initiatives, and future of human space flight and provide personal recollections of his career as an Air Force pilot and Space Shuttle Astronaut.  Hart served as a crew member on STS 41-C Challenger in April 1984. He operated a robotic arm that retrieved the Solar Maximum Satellite for repairs and filmed footage for the IMAX movie The Dream is Alive.
