Speakers to Discuss Apollo’s Impact on Technology and Innovation on Dec. 12

On Thursday, Dec. 12, there will be a program entitled “From CAT Scans to Computer Microchips: Apollo’s Impact on Technology & Innovation” at 7pm at Buzz Aldrin Middle School, 173 Bellevue Ave. in Montclair.  Charles Liu (CUNY College of Staten Island and American Museum of Natural History) and Frederick Chichester (New Jersey section of IEEE) will present.  The event is part of the “Journey to the Moon” program series and is co-sponsored by Sprague Library, University College, the Physics & Astronomy Department, and a number of other departments on-campus.  The program will also include Star Gazing/Telescope night (Weather Permitting).

Charles Liu reviews the science, technology, and innovations that have resulted from the space program and are integral to our society today.  Frederick Chichester discusses his work on the Apollo 11 Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) and engineering design for space travel.
