If you’re tired of managing tons of tabs, database log-ins, and endless redirects, Kopernio, a browser extension, is the tool for you! Kopernio checks citations against the Sprague Library’s database subscriptions to let you know if we have access to an article. If we do not, Kopernio will attempt to locate an Open Access alternative.

Kopernio only takes a few clicks to install. Once it’s a part of your browser, it will prompt you to log in with the credentials associated with your school or organization. This will give the extension access to all of our electronic library subscriptions on top of the expansive open access databases it searches. Once you’ve saved a PDF to your “Locker” in Kopernio, you can open the “Locker” tab to see all the full text PDFs you’ve accessed and organize them for use in your project.

Kopernio is a product from the Web of Science group, the same group that brings us citation managers like EndNote. It currently has over 550,000 users worldwide, and it’s completely free! To get started, check out our page on Kopernio in the Open Access Guide. If you have any questions, email askref@montclair.edu.
