Construction to renovate the former Cafe Diem space on the first floor of Sprague Library is expected to begin on April 22, 2024 and to be completed by the first week in August, in preparation for the opening of a new Starbucks location.

Outdoor tables will be relocated further from the building. While there is going to be an increase in the noise level, we wanted to remind you that there are plenty of quiet locations within the library to continue your studies. Here are our Top 5 Picks:

  1. Silent Study Overlooking Cole Hall: Nothing compares to studying for your upcoming exams while enjoying the beautiful view of Alumni Green.

  2. Lower Level Silent Study: There are plenty of study carrels  on the lower level just past the CAST Multipurpose Room, Room 044 in the R-Z book area.
    Several desk booths
  3. Collaborative and Group Study Spaces: There are additional spaces on the lower level and second floor. If you want to work on a small group project while construction is underway, you can reserve a study room for up to 3 hours at a time.

  4. First Floor Reading Room: Located just outside of CAST, at the far side of the Commuter Study Space, is yet another location to work on your projects.

  5. Commuter Study Space: If you are a commuter who wants to get work done between classes, the Commuter Study Space on the first floor just past the elevator, is a great spot to relax or write your next paper, and there are now two nap pods!
