EBSCO Rolls Out New User Interface for Databases

Posted in: Homepage Features

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, library users will experience a new and improved user interface when performing searches using our EBSCO databases. The vendor is introducing an interface that has been redesigned based on customer feedback, usage data, user research, and usability studies. The interface will offer users new, intuitive ways to refine, navigate, like and share search results. It will be more user-friendly and will help patrons find articles and other resources more quickly and easily.

New Features

The new EBSCO database user interface includes a personalized dashboard and these new features:

  • Durable, shareable URL: Users will be able to copy and paste the URL at the top of each page to share with collaborators. There also remains a separate permalink.
  • Enhanced Search Capabilities: The new interface offers more precise search results with advanced filtering options.
  • Retained Filters: It will be possible to retain filters between searches during a session.
  • Personalized Recommendations: Suggestions tailored to users’ interests and research history.
  • Projects: Folders will be called Projects.
  • Text-to-Speech: Text-to-speech capabilities.
  • Bookmark Feature: Anywhere you see a Bookmark icon  (result list, article detail view, online/PDF full text), you can click it to save an article to your Dashboard.
  • Modern Design: A clean and intuitive interface that makes navigation a breeze.
  • Translation Tool: When viewing Online Full Text in the new EBSCO user interface you have the ability to translate the full text from English to one of over 110 available languages.
