Need a Book or Article? Resource Sharing Can Help!
Posted in: Homepage Features
You’ve spent hours digging through databases for your paper, finally spot the perfect article… and then realize it’s not available through Montclair State University Libraries. Our collections are extensive, but no library can own everything.
That’s where Resource Sharing comes in. When something you need isn’t on our shelves or online, our team works with partner libraries to get it for you. We use two main services to track down materials outside our collection:
EZBorrow
EZBorrow connects you to the shared catalog of PALCI, a large network of academic and major public libraries in the region. Requests are usually filled quickly—often within 3–5 business days—and items are loaned for 16 weeks. This service is for physical books only; articles and book chapters aren’t available through EZBorrow.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
If the book you’re looking for isn’t available through EZBorrow, ILL expands the search to our consortia partners and libraries around the world. Articles and book chapters typically arrive electronically within 24–48 hours, sometimes even faster. Physical items can take one to two weeks to reach us, depending on their origin. Loan periods and renewal options vary by the lending library.
Please note that we’re unable to borrow textbooks or other required course materials, as these items are usually kept on reserve at their home institutions.
