CCE Hosts Second Annual Troop 2 Merit Badge Day

On Saturday, May 4, 2019, the Center for Community Engagement sponsored the 2nd Annual Troop 2 Merit Badge Day at Montclair State University. Boy and Girls Scout from 29 troops across the state participated, 160 scouts in total. The troops visited the campus from different parts of New Jersey; Verona, West Orange, Chatham, East Orange, Livingston, Montclair, Millburn, Short Hills, Bloomfield, Princeton, Glen Ridge, Fair Lawn, South Orange, Maplewood, Wayne, Caldwell, Cresskill, Hoboken, North Haledon, Saddle Brook, Holmdel, Palisades Park, Pompton Lakes, Jersey City and Dumont.

This fun-filled day included the Merit Badge Introduction and workshops held by Merit Badge Counselors. In addition, the scouts participated in training sessions for first aid and CPR. Afterward, the scouts were taken to Brookdale Park to train in archery, which was conducted by the Bloomfield Archers. Lastly, the troops ended their day celebrating a successful event and birthdays with pizza and cake. This event is beneficial and unforgettable as the scouts enjoy and look forward to the knowledge and experiences that this day provides.
