What is OneMontclair?

The OneMontclair program is replacing outdated administrative systems that have served as the primary business and information platforms for Budgeting and Planning, Finance, Human Resources, and Student and Campus Services. The program also has extended to include systems in University Advancement and Institutional Research.

By advancing the overall operations of the University, OneMontclair helps each of us work better and smarter, and improves services to our customers. This initiative gives the University the opportunity to integrate and streamline processes across the campus. The new systems interface seamlessly making our activities more efficient and practical while providing a higher quality of service to all we serve.

Why now?

Our current administrative tools and practices have been in place for almost 30 years. That's a long time!  Operating with outdated systems means:

  • Current systems have not kept up with the University's expansion and cannot be made to support the University's growth and emerging business needs.
  • Obtaining management information is difficult and time consuming.
  • Workarounds and labor-intensive efforts are often required to perform basic university business functions.
  • Core administrative functions are performed by separate and often redundant systems.
  • Business process improvement cannot be readily supported by the current platforms.
  • Systems are nearing technological obsolescence.
  • There are added risks of recovery from business interruptions due to the lack of skilled workers knowledgeable about the platforms.

Higher education has seen significant advancements in business systems and technology in the past three decades. OneMontclair gives us the opportunity to review our current business processes, gather input, and make improvements that will best serve the University, and enhance productivity and efficiency for those who utilize the systems and services.

OneMontclair is about working together to build a smarter approach to the way we do business with all our customers—from students and parents to faculty, staff and outside vendors. OneMontclair places high value on the people who are at the heart of Montclair State and the roles they play in the daily operations and life at the University. OneMontclair will touch all of us, and it will be through teamwork and collaboration that we will reach our goals and celebrate a successful implementation.

  • Enhancing Talent Management and Performance tools to help meet performance goals in an effective manner
  • Helping identify and recruit ideal prospects and support effective communication to yield strong students applicants
  • Offering the ability to create Purchase Requisitions in the system to seamlessly acquire goods or services

  • Implementing Banner, an integrated Student system that supports the complete Student life-cycle to rapidly track students’ billing accounts, registration and overall records.
  • Providing Banner Self-Service, a web-based interface to enhance the grading process, and DegreeWorks, a degree audit system to help track completion of degree requirements
  • Helping to identify students who may be underperforming in class using the “early intervention” system Course Signals
  • Using the single sign-on NEST to provide a one-stop shop for Instructor and Advisor related support services and information
  • Having access to Faculty information and services anywhere, anytime using Ellucian Go mobile app

  • Providing DegreeWorks, a system to effortlessly track completion of degree requirements and create “what if” scenarios for program changes
  • Having access to Student information and services anywhere, anytime using Ellucian Go mobile app
  • Allowing student groups to advertise and request space via calendars in the 25Live and HawkSync systems
  • Creating an easier interaction for payments, refunds and real-time transaction for students’ billing and accounts using TouchNet
  • Using the single sign-on NEST to provide a one-stop shop for all Student information and services.
