Undergraduate Admissions Process

Learn about the Department of Teaching and Learning Undergraduate Admissions process:

Applying as a new undergraduate?

Prospective students (either freshman or transfer students not currently accepted to Montclair State) interested in majoring in one of the academic programs in the academic programs in Teaching and Learning should take these steps:

  1. Contact University Admissions
    Email the Undergraduate Admission Office for information about applications and general Montclair State University admission requirements.

    When you are ready: Start your application.

  2. Submit Your Application

    Submit your application for general admission to Montclair State indicating that you would like to major in one of MSU’s education programs (review TLRM academic programs). Once you select your intended major, you will be prompted to also complete specific application requirements. In general, competitive applicants possess a 3.0 GPA, have a rich record of extra-curricular activities, provide insightful responses to the essay questions and other prompts, and in the case of the education program, experience working with children in a school-based setting.

Adding a minor?

Admission Information

The TELL minor can be taken with any approved P-3, K-6, Dual Degree Dual Certification or Subject Area teacher education major.

Requirements for enrollment in the TELL minor:

  1. Admission to a Montclair State teacher education program
  2. Completion of TELL Online Enrollment Form (PDF)

The first cohort of TELL Minor students was welcomed into the program beginning in the fall semester of 2014.
